Beehive

A timesheet poem I wrote a while back (haven’t been writing them of late, think the last one was almost a year ago). Tried to make it sound a little Shakespeare like (add some culture to work … haha) and tried to keep it flowing fast. Not my best work, but just some fun. Enjoy!

Thou art elaborate as a bee hive,
Each busy deciphering their reason.
Burdened they can but only thrive;
Not concerned by the chilled season

The women buzz at fifty shades of grey
Whilst the directors fly in deep dales,
A union forged, overcoming any fray
And at the end they’ll down ales

But the Shag errs from course,
The honey weighs heavy on his mind.
Others stray not from the Queen’s force
Enduring the journey together entwined

The life of thou reflects a social bee
Satisfying the Queen, her will with glee

Friday Sap

Well if you have been following my posts you’ll know I write poetry for Friday worksheets. I try to keep them light and fun (and generally easy rhymes). Here was an effort just before the end of work prior to Christmas. Enjoy!

Inspiration is lacking today
Must be because it is Friday

You know the drill
Poetry against my will

Time sheets to Justine
Beers are foreseen!

Corona del Semana

I should have posted something before this but what has happened has. I have been busy reading a “how to write poetry” book of late, which includes a lot of exercises to undertake. I will hopefully be able to post some of my exercises on here soon, not sure how good the poetry will be that comes from them as the idea of the exercises are to challenge me and help me be more critical of my own work. So I have sort of stopped writing whilst I have been trying to better understand poetry. But don’t despair as I will post (within the week) some poetry that the book has challenged me to do (it will be open for constructive criticism, as is all my work).

To hold you over in the mean time here is my latest time sheet poem. A fellow employee complained it didn’t rhyme, demonstrating how hard it is to actually get people to appreciate free verse poetry (especially the masses). Enjoy.

We look forward to the week end,
Work behind us for another day
Yet the cloud’s grey the mood,

We soon forget with a taste;
Relishing the freedoms of leisure
And craving time alone or with family.

A time sheet to console sullen skies
And sunny days to warm your rest,
Let nothing eclipse your sun rise

Quiescent Seraph

Well been a while between posts, I promise to make more effort this week. Work has just been busy and that funny thing called life some times just gets in the way 😛 Anyway, a short little one written for our weekly time sheet request. Enjoy!

Our seraphic maiden: graceful and meek,
But forget your sheet this time
And see the damage she shall wreak.
Immunity remits her every crime.

Time Sheet Limerick

Another time sheet poem I wrote for last Friday. Decided to try my hand at a limerick this time. Tried to keep it quite close to the standard, but the da-DUM rhythm may not be “great”. Enjoy.

There was a young maiden of grace
Who quietly worked at a great pace,
Hidden from our sight at times,
Cringing quietly at my rhymes.
Send her time sheets; to help me save face.

In Wittenooms Fields

Well been a while since I have written (and posted) one of my weekly timesheet poems. Last week I wrote a quick little Haiku for the timesheets, however I am not really a fan of writing a haiku so didn’t bother posting it on here. Also this poem should break up the lyrics some … so enjoy.

As the sick roam the fields,
Few stand in no man’s land.
The Captain shouts, safety at hand;
The rest crowd, bated breaths as shields.

Week end is at hand today,
Time for reprieve from ailing eyes.
Hoping for Saturday to have clear skies,
So all can watch the western derby foray.

Cast aside the winter blues
From the week that has gone.
Time to have a drink to dwell upon:
First, undertake your timesheet dues.

O’ Timesheet

One member at our work decided to organise a Christmas in July last week (on Friday). So in honour of that I decided to dedicate last weeks time sheet poem to a carol parody instead. This is a parody of “Jingle Bells” … so best reading (singing) it in tune with Jingle Bells. Enjoy!

Pushing through the week
On a fit ball in tow.
O’er the curses our physique;
Others laughing at the show.

Beer bottles will be a ring-in’
Oh! What fun it is to be drink-in’

Timesheets call, timesheets call
Their call to be heard today.
Oh! What fun they are;
In before opening the bar.
